Hi, I'm Tom. Understanding the world provides me with great fulfillment, and I seek to understand it a little more each day.
I am a second year PhD student in the engineering department at the University of Cambridge. I am interested in the control of fluid flows, in particular, how the fluid flow in and around wind-farms may be manipulated to maximise power output. With the supervision of Dr. Shreyas Mandre, I am running computational investigations into how this may be achieved.
My background is in mathematics, I completed my integrated master's degree in mathematics at the University of Warwick in July 2023. The areas in which I specialised were in mathematical analysis and fluid dynamics, my master's project focused on modelling the effect thermal fluctuations in thin fluid films at the nanoscale.
I am lucky to have had many great teachers and mentors throughout my life. I hope one day to learn enough that I can pass down this favour and be a mentor to others.
